**Destiny Tips and Tricks****
Please add any tips and tricks you learn about Destiny to this Wiki. Check back often and we'll all learn.
Temporary Items -- Temporary items can be added to the catalog. This is what Destiny did if we made errors checking things out. For example, if you checked a patron out to a patron, the checked out patron appears as a temporary item. The temporary items are identified as big red Ts. To get rid of these temporary items, just check it in. Destiny automatically deletes these items.
Links and Shortcuts -- See the attached pdf for instructions for creating 1) a link on your library web page that goes directly to your own library catalog (rather than the ICCSD Library spalish page); 2) a direct shortcut on your Quick Launch bar; and 3) a direct shortcut on your desktop.

Creating a Bib:
Here my favorite thing about Destiny so far: There is an option to create a bibliography or individual citations from a created list!
- Perform a search.
- Select items to be added to My List.
- Click the List icon
- Scroll to the bottom of the list
- Use the Citation/Bibliography option (make sure you turn the “show notes” selection off).
- A beautiful citation or bib will appear!
- Web site in the WebPath Express option can also be added!
Report based on circulation.doc
Creating a bibliography report to share information about new materials with staff:
- Log in as Site Administrator
- Select the Back Office tab
- Choose Reports
- Choose Bibliography
- Select Date Copies Added and enter a date. Make sure you select show notes.
- Click on Run Report
- Copy and paste the annotated bib into a Word doc
- Send out to staff. So slick!
Getting Circ Records
You do have the power to specify a week from the past.
To get to that option, go into the Back Office and choose Reports. Then choose Collection Statistics-Historical. This allows you to pick a specific range of time. Mine did let me go back past the implementation date, so it knows what was done in Spectrum prior to March.
How to export your records from Destiny and import them into TitleWise.
1. Log into Destiny as Site Administrator. Go to the Catalog tab.
2. Choose Export Titles from the options on the left hand column.
3. Leave the default settings on the Export Titles page as is. Click on Export.
4. Next, go to the Back Office tab and choose Job Manager. Your export will show as In Process. The process may take several minutes. Once it is completed, click View. The Summary will show you how many records exported. Click Export File and choose a location to save (desktop is a reasonable choice, given that it only has to be there long enough to upload to TitleWise).
5. Log into TitleWave and select the TitleWise tab.
6. On the TitleWise main page, click Submit Collection on the top left corner. You have to click through each of the sections in TitleWise to get to the File Upload option. The first section is Collection Profile. I would think that there would be no changes necessary there. Click Next.
7. The next section has a pull-down menu listing circulation software. Switch this one to Follett Destiny. Click Next.
8. Unless you have to make any adjustments to the rest of your profile, you can keep clicking Next till you get to the File Upload page. Navigate to your MARC records file to select it.
This will give you the most current data on your collection age, etc. It also talks to TitleWave and gives you the option of flagging books you already own when you are creating a list in TitleWave. Very handy
Deleting Reports from Job Manager
Sometime before you leave for the summer, please delete any reports from the Destiny job manager that you no longer need. Since the job manager keeps all reports from all schools in one area, the goal is to keep a single schools list to one single page (about 25 reports). You can only delete the jobs/reports at your site, but you can delete them regardless who created them. You may have some in there that were ‘practice’ kind of reports, which certainly can be deleted. The formatting you’ve done for certain reports will stay in the Report Builder, so that does not have to be redone the next time you want that same report.
To batch delete all the reports in your job manager at once, follow these steps:
- Go to Back Office>Job Manager.
- Scroll to the bottom of your list.
- In the Delete box, enter the date which you are doing this task. (This way, every report you’ve ever created can be deleted.)
- Click on the Delete button.
To single delete individual reports, click on the Delete button to the right of each job, if you are more comfortable doing it that way.
